PROJECT -
SAMARITAN PUBLIC SCHOOL

We are supporting Samaritan Help Mission to build a G+3 school building in Bankra, Howrah. 3500 marginalized children who are not enrolled in schools, and have been involved in juvenile crime or picking, have been targeted as beneficiaries, making the project a game-changer. We have committed Rs. 3 crores towards the setting up of this project.

Samaritan Help Mission is managed by Mr. Mamoon Akhtar, one of Kolkata's most dynamic educators, who is already educating 5000 children. We regularly support him and utilize his organization for relief support as well.

As of Nov, 2021- Brickwork and plastering work of the ground has been completed and work on the 1st and 2nd floor is going on. Our target is to complete the work by the end of December 2021 to start the session by April 2022.

INTER-NGO OLYMPICS, 2019

The event at NKDA Stadium, Kolkata was unique as it was possibly the largest such event among NGOs in Kolkata as 27 NGOs confirmed their participation out of which 3 were children from special schools, namely "Manovikas Kendra", "Mentaid" and "The Oral School for deaf children". These 3 special schools sent 12 children each and the other 24 NGOs sent around 30 children each to participate in our different categories of races.

Along with a march past we had a session of Zumba for the children orchestrated by "Saangvi" which the children enjoyed a lot, on the second day, the finals.

Arranged by Fun Pickle, the overall championship was won by "Parivaar", an NGO which displayed immense discipline and great conduct.

For the Under 5 age category, we had 50m races and for the rest we had 100m races. The different races were:

  • Flat Race
  • Obstacle Race
  • Relay Race
  • Friendship Race
  • Skipping Race
  • Lemon & Spoon Race
  • Hurdle Race

We provided breakfast packages in the first half and after the races we served everyone lunch before they left. Water along with Glucon-D was available on the field.

INCLUSIVE FOOTBALL
CHAMPIONSHIP 2018

Kolkata Gives associated with Fun Pickle to arrange a mixture of rural and urban teams football championship where NGOs and big schools, girls and boys played in the same team.

We have started thinking strategically that in the next 2 years, we can increase this movement to cover 100 rural teams - at 800 girls playing football in rural areas. We would like to really promote this mixed format of football going forward where gender is not a barrier!

The event lasted from 13th to 16th December 2018 with 48 teams, 336 children from rural Bengal and NE India. 13 NGOs participated in the program including Parivaar, Help Us Help Them, EkTara, Sunbird Trust, Nayantara, and Calcutta Rescue.

EASTERN INDIA'S LARGEST
PHILANTHROPIC EXHIBITION

Kolkata Gives has conducted multiple exhibitions in the past few years. One of the largest of its kind was the philanthropic exhibition held on 11th Jan 2015 in Hotel Park Plaza, in association with The Telegraph and Sanmarg.

The event witnessed a massive footfall of enthusiastic philanthropists from across diverse genres like education, counter-trafficking, health-care, gender equality etc.

Around 30 credible NGOs of Bengal and their projects were showcased in the gathering. The event was a huge success.

BURNING GHAT

We understand the value of bidding an honourable farewell to the departed ones.

Taking into cognizance the fact that people use their own land or the riverside area for the last rites, we have committed INR 5 lacs to build a permanent burning ghat named "Sarga Tirtha" in the Sunderbans.

This will help the locals to bid an honourable farewell to their dear ones with proper rituals.

The ghat is built on an area of 7200 sq.ft. in Bijaynagar, South 24 Parganas in Sunderbans. The project completed in May, 2022.
